Feeling stressed and over scheduled?

Did you wake up feeling hopeless? Anxious? Angry? Do you wonder whether you can get through one more day?

Maybe you’ve thought about how counseling could help you deal with the challenges you face, but when you look at your calendar, you just don’t see where you would fit that in. Your calendar is already packed as it is, and it seems you’re barely able to take a breath, much less carve out the time to go see a counselor.

Counseling at your convenience

What if counseling could come to you? Whether you face the demands of a high-pressure job, or a special needs child, my focus is helping you find ways to thrive, not just survive. I offer flexible hours with telephone and online counseling sessions, so we can connect while you’re:

  • Waiting with your child for an appointment
  • At home while your child is sleeping or occupied
  • Taking a moment away from your busy work schedule

Managing special needs parenting stress

Research shows that parents of children with autism show brain changes similar to those of soldiers returning from war experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Symptoms of PTSD fall into three main categories:

  • Repetition — Repeatedly thinking about or reliving an overwhelming or stressful event, such as a past meltdown, to the point that it interferes with your day-to-day life
  • Avoidance — Feeling numb, not enjoying favorite activities, not planning for the future, because it seems hopeless
  • Arousal — Having outbursts of irritability or anger, feeling unable to concentrate, lying awake at night when everyone else is sleeping

Together, we can find ways for you to pause and step out of your ongoing stress, so you can take a breath and start to enjoy your life again, despite the challenges you face.

Whether you come to my office or we do counseling over the phone or through a secure online platform, I would love to help you get the counseling support your need. Contact me here or call (818) 669-4850 to set up an appointment to discuss the possibilities.
